Livelihood

In keeping with its sixth Principle, i.e. “To do good to the world, that is, to promote physical, spiritual and social good of everyone”, the Arya Samaj upholds programs of social reform.

It has worked to further female education and widow remarriages to building schools, colleges, orphanages, homes for widows and has fought against the practice of Sati, child marriage and polygamy. The Arya Samaj has also gone onto undertake famine relief and medical work.

Continuing to be true to its roots, the Arya Samaj Foundation, Chennai, established in 1914, continues to empower and improve lives through its social welfare initiatives which align with its ‘Vision – HEAL’.
